Plain numbers
What it costs, how insurance fits in, and what you'll actually pay.
Out-of-network, with a superbill.
I'm an out-of-network provider. That means you pay me directly, then your insurance pays you back for part of each session, if your plan has out-of-network mental health benefits. Many PPO plans do.
It's a little more admin than a copay. In return you get a therapist you chose, and no insurer deciding how many sessions you're allowed.
You pay per session
$195, charged after each session. HSA cards work.
I send a superbill
An itemized receipt with the codes your insurer needs, sent to you each month.
Your plan pays you back
You submit it through your insurer's site or app. Reimbursement goes straight to you.
Five questions for your insurer
Call the member number on your card, or check your plan documents. Ask about outpatient mental health, out-of-network.
- Do I have out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits?
- What's my out-of-network deductible, and how much of it is left?
- After the deductible, what percentage do you reimburse?
- What's your allowed amount for CPT code 90837?
- Do I need pre-authorization, and how do I submit a superbill?
What a session will really cost you.
An estimate, not a quote. Your plan's terms decide the real number. Nothing you type here is saved or sent anywhere.
[Cancellation window and fee, e.g. 24 or 48 hours' notice]
If you're paying out of pocket, you have the right to a written estimate of expected costs before we start. Just ask.
Sent monthly, or on request. Include everything your insurer needs to process a claim.
